Title: Other Live Video Platforms

Hello,

We’ve already looked at two of the most popular live video
platforms, but there are a few other notable ones we should
take a look at, especially if you’d like to expand your reach
beyond those popular channels.

Periscope, owned by Twitter, really took off when it was first
introduced, but it hasn’t taken off to quite the extent that
some of the other platforms have.

The app hit 10 million users in 2015, but has struggled since
then. It’s hard to say why users never adopted the platform, but
it may have something to do with the launch of live streaming in
other platforms such as YouTube and Facebook. Their solutions
were integrated right from the start, while Periscope was a
separate app until recently. Now you can live stream straight
from Twitter, and it’s powered by Periscope.

You can still stream from within the Periscope app, but most
people seem to prefer doing it directly from Twitter since they
don’t have to install and familiarize themselves with a
separate app.

Using Twitter to stream can help you reach users that may not
be on Facebook or YouTube, and it’s especially good if you
already have a good number of followers on Twitter.

Instagram is another fairly popular option, and if you already
have a good following on the app or you want to grow your
Instagram following, streaming live on the app might be the
key.

However, there’s one important thing to keep in mind when it comes
to streaming on Instagram, and that is that unlike many other
platforms which save your broadcasts for perpetual viewing,
your live stream disappears once it’s over on Instagram.

If this is a problem for you, it might be a good idea to
stick to some of the other platforms for most of your live
streams, and maybe use Instagram live streaming on occasion
just to build your follower base there.

There are plenty of other smaller services for streaming, but
some of them require a monthly fee to use, and why pay a monthly
fee when sites like YouTube and Facebook are free and have
built-in traffic you can make use of?

Tomorrow is our final lesson in this series on using live video
for marketing, and we’re going to talk about some of the biggest
mistakes people make when using live video, so stay tuned!

Until then,
